Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
Shameka Pointer and her fiancée, Al Newell, first crossed paths in May 2017.
With God, their Helper, leading the way, they’ve since wasted little time collectively becoming engaged in a rather unique activity, one that figures to impact and enrich the lives of an array of couples, most notably those whose relationship is on the right path to marriage.
An Atlanta-area couple who doesn’t shy away from the notion that God undoubtedly is the Focal Point of their courtship, Pointer and Newell co-authored the awe-inspiring book entitled, “Dating To Marry,” a newly-released, informative written document that recalls this couple’s assortment of interpersonal relational experiences.
“Dating may seem unimportant but in reality, but it is the foundation that you set for marriage,” said a spokesperson in a detailed synopsis of Pointer and Newell’s book at http://www.lulu.com/. “Whomever you set out to date will more likely help you decide if you really want to date this person to marry them. This book will help you analyze the importance of dating.”

All things considered, Pointer, during a weekend interview with Making Headline News, emphasized that it was absolutely essential to compose Dating To Marry, in large because the modern-day church has, in some aspects, shied away from — as she calls it — “getting down and dirty” to do the necessary things that will keep the sanctity of marriage intact.
“(We’re trying) to help people be more open-minded to living a Christian life and not just saying you are a Christian, bearing no fruit or showing no signs,” said Pointer, explaining the purpose of Dating To Marry. “In this book, we talk about the importance of dating with a purpose and not just dating for self-gain and irrelevant reasons.”
To her distinctly unique credit, it’s safe to assume that Pointer can appropriately be labeled as a serial author, of sorts, considering this native of Town Creek, Alabama is responsible for having written five other compelling books.
In June 2012, she witnessed the release of her book entitled, “Being Free And Staying Free: The Natural And Spiritual Laws of Being Free At All Cost.”

A 32-page project that can be purchased at Amazon.com, Being Free And Staying Free demonstrates different ways one could be gripped in bondage.
“Our minds can’t even imagine how many obstacles come into our lives to hinder our growth and accomplishments,” Pointer explains. “How many times have we asked ourselves, ‘Why can’t I get passed this situation?’ or ‘Why does it seem like I’m going in circles?’ Being Free And Staying Free is here to open up your understanding on how to be free and stay free in your life.”
And then there is Poems Of Courage, a 34-page book Pointer released in July 2013.

In this book, Pointer shares her immense gifts through poetry, recalling among other things, her slew of struggles with life’s situations that, at one point in time, seemed insurmountable and downright unbearable.
But God…
“As I wrote the book, the stronger I became,” Pointer said. “This book will give you the strength you need to carry out life’s sometimes difficult situations. It’s full of strength, encouragement, and hope. It will bless you without a doubt, so be blessed.”
Not to be outdone, Pointer authored a two-part series written document entitled, Surviving The System: The Life of A Foster Child and Surviving The System: The Life of A Foster Child, Part 2: An Emotional Healing Guide.

A book that made its way to the market in April 2017, Surviving The System: The Life of A Foster Child depicts the life of a foster child, with a special emphasis on opening the eyes of people when it comes to the slew of emotions and behaviors of that of a foster child.
Also, in March 2016, Pointer’s book, When The Head Refuses To Pray: The Body Withers And Dies, was officially released and has since has an immediate impact amongst her reading audience.
A 48-page project, When The Head Refuses To Pray: The Body Withers And Dies recalls Pointer’s tumultuous, chaotic experiences, particularly what she deems her “abusive unequally yoked marriage” she was in for 10 years.

“There was no consistent prayer in the marriage from the head, (during) which I did not survive,” Pointer explained. “So it talks about the importance of prayer and fasting together, but also as the head.”
An accomplished writer whose reputation is such that she is extremely passion about enhancing interpersonal relational skills amongst couples who seek to establish — and retain — healthy relationships, Pointer said it is by the grace of God, coupled with the divine calling on her life that she’s steadfastly walking in her purpose as an accomplished author.
Not to mention a devout woman of faith.
“The good, bad, and ugly times are what made me who I am today,” said Pointer, alluding specifically to her book, Surviving The System: The Life of A Foster Child.
In actuality, it seems that such an intriguing declaration is prevalent to the overall landscape of her life, a trend that has greatly fueled her desire to exercise her faith as an accomplished and gifted serial author.
