Baltimore Leadership Coach JaVaughna Bevel bringing out positive change through her flourishing organization

Andre Johnson June 1, 2018

There’s no other way to put it.

JaVaughna Bevel is all about helping implement change.

A PROVEN LEADER — A native of Baltimore, JaVaughna Bevel, 33, is widely known as a Certified Leadership Coach and the CEO of A Leading Way, which is a leadership development company, whereby she works specifically with a variety of organizations to improve their leadership capacity through professional and personal development workshops, training, and assessments, among other things.

“I love that I am able to make an impact on multiple lives by interacting with just one person,” Bevel, a Baltimore, Maryland-area businesswoman, told Making Headline News this week. “Leadership is such a complex subject and people tend to forget that leaders are servants.”

To her distinctly unique credit, Bevel has appropriately provided a whole new twist to the significance of displaying a servant’s heart.

A native of Baltimore, Bevel, 33, is widely known as a Certified Leadership Coach and the CEO of A Leading Way, which is a leadership development company, whereby she works specifically with a variety of organizations to improve their leadership capacity through professional and personal development workshops, training, and assessments, among other things.

“I provide training on diversity and cultural competency as well,” Bevel explained. “I also coach female leaders on navigating life as a woman in power with multiple roles — mother, wife, friend, sister, confident, girl boss, etc.”

In addition, Bevel’s organization offers one-on-one coaching, as well as group coaching, online training, and in-person workshops to women in power, particularly those who aspire to achieve their goals while standing firm in their success.

Interestingly, Bevel announced that she’s presently developing a youth leadership academy for girls ranging in ages 8 to 17, an institution that will focus largely on self-confidence, self-perception, team building, making positive decisions, and being a positive leader amongst their friends, she emphasized.

A TRUE PROFESSIONAL — Given the notable and immeasurable strides she’s made in such a short timeframe as a businesswoman, one would be hard-pressed to believe that it’s only been a year since Bevel deemed it essential to delve off into the ever-so-competitive world of entrepreneurship.

“I am able to go into an organization and remind leaders of their true purpose which, in turn, improves the outcomes for employees, customers, and partners,” Bevel said. “Better leadership equals better business practices. Better business practices equals increased revenue.”

Given the notable and immeasurable strides she’s made in such a short timeframe as a businesswoman, one would be hard-pressed to believe that it’s only been a year since Bevel deemed it essential to delve off into the ever-so-competitive world of entrepreneurship.

“I didn’t decide to become an entrepreneur until I was 32 years old,” Bevel said. “From the time I started working at 16, I was fine with working for someone else. I was content with receiving a reliable source of income that allotted me a 30-minute lunch break and four weeks’ vacation. I was content with being responsible for only my actions, but I was unhappy.”

SOLID TRACK RECORD — While she’s assumed the CEO label for her company for just one year, her wealth of experience in leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills date back more than 10 years.

All things considered, such unhappiness had ultimately fueled Bevel’s desire to devise ways to broaden her horizons, to seek and embrace new challenges, thus maximize her potential.

To her credit, she persevered diligently until she reaped favorable results.

“I needed to change everything, because I was so unfulfilled in my professional life,” Bevel explained.

A professional stint that spans more than a decade — most notably as a full time registered diagnostic medical sonographer in urology, fertility, and general sonography — Bevel undoubtedly boasts the educational credentials that have greatly enabled her to function in her element for such a time as now.

A 2002 graduate of Baltimore’s Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School, Bevel enrolled at nearby Coppin State University, where during a brief tenure she majored in General Science with an emphasis on Biology.

Consequently, she enrolled at Sanford Brown Institute, which led to her having acquired a certificate in sonography in 2007. Then in 2016, Bevel was awarded a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Sciences from The University of South Dakota.

While she’s assumed the CEO label for her company for just one year, her wealth of experience in leadership, team building, communication and interpersonal skills date back more than 10 years.

Which, as a result, goes to show there’s no other way to put it.

Bevel is all about helping implement change as evidenced by her remarkable progress within the past year.

“When I work with women leaders, it brings joy to my heart when they are finally able to live their best lives, because of something they learned from me,” said Bevel, adding that her children are amongst those — her “No. 1 reason,” she stressed — who have fueled her desire to live out her dreams. “Helping other women with lives similar to my own and (helping them) learn to navigate through the chaos and emerge on top is the ultimate gift for me. I love working with young girls to get them started early in their roles as women in power. Shaping them into young women that are prideful and purposeful in their actions. I am elated to be able to help young girls eliminate self-doubt and become, fierce, respected and positive leaders and role models.”

As for her mission for sharing — and inspiring — before the masses A Leading Way, Bevel doesn’t shy away from the notion that it all boils down to change. Positive change, that is.

SIGN OF THINGS TO COME — Interestingly, Bevel announced that she’s presently developing a youth leadership academy for girls ranging in ages 8 to 17, an institution that will focus largely on self- confidence, self- perception, team building, making positive decisions, and being a positive leader amongst their friends, she emphasized.

“I want to change the way people view leadership and give them alternative ways to lead through positivity, inspiration, creativity and innovation,” Bevel said. “I became a leadership coach to transcend the barriers that have been invisibly placed on leadership roles and open people’s eyes to people centered leadership that will not only improve business but improve the well- being of others because people will feel valued, and when they feel valued they feel confident in their abilities. My mission is to inspire leaders to create more leaders.”

Especially her beloved children.

“I am a firm believer of my purpose being my passion and my reasons being my why,” said Bevel, adding that Caitlyn Davis, President of Empower Girls Inc., are amongst those who helped steer her in the right direction. “My children look to me for guidance and when they see mommy taking control of her time, her happiness and her life, they are excited. They know that mommy can spend more time with them and that they can achieve anything that they set their minds to.”

Just like she did.

There’s no other way to put it.
