MEMPHIS — Tymika Chambliss earlier this week was asked how her life’s competitive drive greatly helped propel her for her present endeavor.
Exhibiting her customary signature smile, Chambliss was essentially joking and serious at the same time while offering this intriguing answer.
“My mom has always told me to act like I got some home training, so I think acting became a part of my life at an early age,” Chambliss told Making Headline News. I don’t think competition was ever a factor.”
For Chambliss, even if acting hadn’t brought about a sense of competition for this Memphis-area businesswoman then, chances are, she still would have demonstrated the poise and passion and creativity to hold her own, thus bask in the glory of her element.
A native of New Orleans, Chambliss is an accomplished actress, who has made some pretty impressive strides in this industry for nearly three decades strong.
“Thank God for social media, because it has given me the opportunity to take my acting, speaking, and empowerment sessions to the world,” Chambliss said.
Fortunately for Chambliss, it seems her acting repertoire essentially has attracted a global presence.
“My family adopted a family in Pakistan, and I talk to them almost every day,” Chambliss said. “They have become an extension of us.”
And, it is in large part because of her international connections that have greatly afforded Chambliss to put her immeasurable acting skills on display in a variety of places, particularly in the Bluff City, her present establishment, considering Chambliss has become fixture on the Mid-South-area stage play landscape.
“Theater gives me the opportunity to share a story with others through the lens of the writer,” Chambliss said. I am able to sculpt a masterpiece before their eyes, while taking them on a roller-coaster journey of a lifetime. To me, theater is one of the hardest, yet rewarding professions. Actors change people’s lives and perceptions without touching them. We are afforded the opportunity to touch hearts from the stage.”

For what it’s worth, the feedback Chambliss has generated through her acting talents has been overwhelmingly favorable.
“I have received multiple (social media) inbox messages from people who were looking for an answer and found it from attending one of my shows,” Chambliss said.
In nutshell, what it all boils down to is bringing lasting smiles to the faces of her audience or, perhaps, those with whom she crosses paths through her business venture.
A graduate of L. W. Higgins in Marrero, Louisiana whom, in 2000, relocated to Tennessee to help her parents start their ministry, Chambliss is the Founder of The Diamond Experience, an empowerment, faith-based organization whereby she encourages women to embrace who they are while bringing out “the diamond within,” she said.
“My sisters and I started this empowerment group to teach women how to love the skin they’re in,” said Chambliss, who is currently pursuing a degree in Aviation Safety Management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
As for her personal mission for diligently focusing on and devising ways to enhance her craft, Chambliss emphasized that family tops the list.
“As a teenager, I went through some tough times,” Chambliss explained. “There were a few times I tried to commit suicide. I hated how I looked. I hated the color of my skin. I hated my name. I hated everything about me. Because I had so much self-hate, I married someone who treated me the way I treated myself.”
Eventually, Chambliss’ much-needed breakthrough in her young life would ultimately come to fruition, a develop that, fortunately for her, provided her with the resiliency and perseverance she needed to discover herself and, above all, connect with the divine purpose for which God created her.
“After I left that relationship, I vowed to teach myself how to love myself,” Chambliss said. I started working on Tymika. Every morning, I would wake up, look in the mirror, and say, ‘You are beautiful.’ Many mornings would say it with tears in my eyes: ‘Tymika, you are beautiful.’ I said it anyway. I began reading articles and watching videos on The Laws of Attraction. I began being selfish…Yes, for once in my life, I was okay with being selfish. I realized that there was no way I could be an effective mother until I began working on me. That is when my sister and I created The Diamond Experience. It was birthed out of pain.”
Not to mention, it miraculously prompted Chambliss to ultimately come to grips with the notion that she was a God-created diamond in the rough all along.
Today, unlike never before, she’s steadfastly walking in her purpose with God, her Helper, leading the way.
“Although the acting and life coaching and empowerment communities are very competitive, I enjoy making people smile,” Chambliss said. “I love empowering people to be a better version of themselves, whether from the stage or from the podium. Empowerment is essential to growth.”
