Dallas/Fort Worth entrepreneur Toya Knowles doing it big in Texas as successful salon owner

Andre Johnson October 1, 2018

MAKING HEADLINE NEWS WELCOMES TOYA KNOWLES

DALLAS — Toya Knowles is a proud native of Illinois.

Much to her delight, she’s doing things big in Texas.

Consider, for instance, the awe-inspiring passion for her vision, a development to which Knowles essentially was introduced way back when she was in grade school — the sixth grade to be technical.

“I got a full ride to Lewis University in Lisle, Illinois on an academic scholarship,” Knowles, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, explaining in great detail how she had managed to discover her God-orchestrated gifts. “However, I knew since I was in sixth grade that I wanted to do hair. I was that kid in the neighborhood doing everyone’s hair.”

REPRESENTING “THE CHI” WELL — A native of Chicago, Toya Knowles, 47, has flourished mightily, thus made a name for herself as one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s finest beauty professionals and salon owners.

In what undoubtedly has become a remarkable sequence of events, Knowles has gone from one of the neighborhood’s most sought-after hair stylists to one whom, well, is doing big things in Texas.

A native of Chicago, Knowles, 47, has flourished mightily, thus made a name for herself as one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s finest beauty professionals and salon owners.

Once a stellar and talented multi-sport athlete, Knowles wasted little time delving off into this ever-so-competitive cosmetology industry, having made the leap into her selected field immediately after earning her high school diploma from Chicago’s Harvard St. George.

DESTINY STEPS UNFOLDING — Knowles’ salon — located at 12021 Dallas Parkway, Suite 132 inside of Phoenix Suites in nearby Frisco, Texas — will go into full operations October 16.

“Once high school was over, I went straight to beauty school,” Knowles said. “I believe I am more of a beauty coach. I love share everything I know and learn with everyone. Sharing is caring.”

As for how her competitive drive has greatly helped propel her to function in her element for such a time as now, Knowles contends that such a drive doesn’t really exist as it pertains to her profession.

Knowles’ salon, located at 12021 Dallas Parkway, Suite 132 inside of Phoenix Suites in nearby Frisco, Texas, will go into full operations October 16.

“When I think competitive, I think of competing with someone, and for me, it’s never been about competing with anyone,” Knowles said. “It is just doing what I love and continued learning and growing at what I love to do.”

Like a number of her peers and colleagues, Knowles was destined from the outset to — for a lack of better words — get in where she fits in.

THE BUSINESSLIKE APPROACH — As for how her competitive drive has greatly helped propel her to function in her element for such a time as now, Knowles contends such a drive doesn’t really exist as it pertains to her profession.

Look at her today, a proud native of Illinois whom, much to her delight, is doing things big in Texas.

“I believe there’s always room for anybody in this career as it’s a billion dollar  industry, so it’s no need to compete. It’s (all about being) inspired by other people to allow you to continue to grow and being around like-minded people. I simply just love what I do. I love to see everyone that sits in my chair feel good about themselves and, for me, it’s not just about focusing on the outside. It’s about focusing on the inside as well.” — Texas Entrepreneur Toya Knowles

With her continuous progress as a thriving businesswoman has emerged an assortment of lofty goals and ambitions, something about which Knowles is empowered to tackle head on.

GOD’S PLAN — In what undoubtedly has become a remarkable sequence of events, Knowles has gone from one of the neighborhood’s most sought-after hair stylists to one whom, well, is doing big things in Texas.

“My goal was to go to Jones Commercial Career Academy to take business management in my junior and senior year, then go to hair school,” Knowles said. “But when the public schools went on strike, my dad made me stay in private school.”

Despite those assortment of obstacles, Knowles steadfastly kept her focus on what mattered most — her monumental vision of fulfilling her goals and ambitions.

And that she has surely done, a trend that has given way to her savoring the best of both worlds, both in the Windy City and Big D.

“As of now, my venture has allowed me to build two amazing clienteles in Chicago and Dallas,” Knowles said. “Even though I no longer do hair in my home town, I still get phones calls on a weekly basis about my services in Chicago from my YouTube a channel. And the best part is I’m still very close to all my clients, who have now turned into friends and family. I don’t care to say clients.  I prefer friends and family.”

Speaking of family, Knowles is especially grateful to hers for helping to steer her in the right directions, particularly as it relates to maximizing her potential in such a competitive and popular industry.

“Well if I had to say who inspired me, I will have to say my daddy, even though he was totally against me going to hair school,” said Knowles, who also credits her mother, grandmother, and a host of others for their valiant support. “It made me want to show him how much I was passionate about it and, once he saw me in action, he became my No. 1 fan.”

‘NOT TODAY, DEVIL’ — Despite those assortment of obstacles, Knowles steadfastly kept her focus on what mattered most — her monumental vision of fulfilling her goals and ambitions.

Fortunately for her and to her distinctly unique credit, Knowles has at her disposal a slew of solid and dedicated fans and supporters, many of whom make up the very clients — err, family and friends — she routinely services.

“My personal mission is to impact anyone who sits in my chair and to teach them how to create their blueprint for their lifestyle,” said Knowles whom, on November 5, will be launching a 16-week course on short hair. “I believe when you have people that inspire you and poured into you, it’s only right to give back what you have learned . You must pay it forward.”

To her credit, she certainly paying it forward virtually daily, all the while doing things big in Texas in the process.
