For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)
DALLAS — Tamara Washington, at one point in time, admittedly was uncomfortable.
Very, very uncomfortable, she recalls.
“I didn’t feel comfortable sharing with those around me,” Washington, during a recent interview with Making Headline News, said, recalling her assortment of challenges as it pertains to sharing her personal testimonies. “So it made things more challenging to overcome. Now, I’m seeking to encourage someone’s heart so they would know they’re not alone.”
GOD’S LEADING LADY
Fortunately for Washington, she’s been afforded the ideal platform whereby she has displayed a great deal of transparency.
In making her authorship debut, Washington has appropriately disclosed her testimonies and valiant contributions to book entitled, “I RISE: Living Beyond The Bruises.”
A book that is forwarded by accomplished Flint, Michigan-based author, empowerment extraordinaire, and Kilgore Publishing founder Precious S. Brown, “I RISE: Living Beyond The Bruises” made its presence on the market on December 17.

“I’ve had the desire to write a book for a long as I can remember,” Washington, a native of Cade, Louisiana — “Some the greatest things have come from some of the smallest places on the map,” she said of her rural hometown — who currently resides in the Houston area. “I recall having the desire to write a book as early as my adolescent years. So what was simply a desire has become reality.”
As for the divine message she aspires to send to her reading audience through “I RISE,” Washington emphasized, among other things, that, “It is nearly impossible to have healthy relationships with others when you’re separated from yourself within.”
Now that her published work has come to fruition, not only has Washington broken out of her comfort zone — both in the natural and spirit — but, to her credit, she’s going to great lengths to help others with similar personalities to follow suit.
“I began writing the book for the purpose of helping people,” Washington explained. “I’ve often had the experience of feeling alone when going through life’s situations.”

“As you turn the pages of this book, you will gain hope and encouragement to overcome the obstacles you face,” said a spokesperson for Brown’s book, which is her ninth published work to date.
For Washington, while her contributing piece to “I RISE: Living Beyond the Bruises” is her first published work, it certainly isn’t her last, she acknowledged.
“I plan to write multiple books to elaborate on several topics that were briefly mentioned in ‘I RISE.'” — Author Tamara C. Washington
Much to her delight, Washington has become the beneficiary of an array of positive feedback since the release of “I RISE.”
“I anticipate receiving lots of feedback” said Washington, adding that her grandest supporters have been her local church, as well as her Pastor and spiritual father, Apostle Dr. W. E. Brown.
“I would also like to give special thanks to the leaders of Covenant Temple Churches Worldwide for their unconditional love, support, prayers, and guidance throughout the years I’ve been a part of their ministry,” Washington continued.
For what it’s worth, amongst the factors about which Washington is mostly proud is this anthology has created an international buzz since its much-anticipated release.
“(This book) will reach many all over the world,” Washington said. So this project has given me the ability to share my testimony with the word of the Lord in mind. My desire is to reach the hearts of many that they, too, would ask the question: ‘What must I do to be saved?’”
