WRITER’S MARATHON
DALLAS — Tammie Polk remembers the conversation.
That’s for sure.
She remembers what she described as a “myriad of excuses’ she heard during her dialogue with a woman some three years ago.
She remembers how, given the way that exchange played out, she had become greatly inspired to use the woman’s shallow excuses as the fuel that would ultimately jumpstart her authorship debut.
And so it came to pass, Polk’s immeasurable gifts as a rising author, a trend that, much to her delight, has given way to this Mid-South author having assembled a slew of books.
How ‘bout 46 to be technical?
All in span of — brace yourselves — about four years.
Her most notable book: “The 7 Virtuous Business Woman Slayers: 7 Deadly Copouts,” Polk’s featured written work that was officially released in the summer of 2016.
In this book that is comprised of 90 pages, Polk raises a rather three pivotal questions to her reading audience: “Have you ever feel like life is playing monkey in the middle with your dreams? Do you have a vision for your life and business that’s blocked by the affairs of life? Are you excusing away the desire to do, have, and be more?

“In this book, you will learn about the 7 Deadly Copouts — called Slayers — that women use as reasons why they can’t move forward. It’s time to Slay the Slayers,” said a spokesperson for Polk’s featured book at Amazon.com.
During an interview this week with Making Headline News, Polk acknowledged that she wrote “The 7 Virtuous Business Woman Slayers: 7 Deadly Copouts,” in large part because of the slew of challenges she had overcome during the course of her life and sensed that her experiences would, in turn, inspire other women to cling to unwavering faith.
“I chose to produce the book, because I knew that I had personally overcome the challenges that (the woman) mentioned and I wanted to encourage other women to do the same,” Polk, a native of Memphis, explained.
Initially, Polk’s Summer 2016-released book started out as “freebies,” she said. Conversely, the more she continued to write, the more her gifts as an accomplished author had subsequently evolved into a full-fledge business venture, she told MHN.
“After my business coach, Tameka Anderson, read it, she asked me what else I was going to do with it,” Polk recalled. “My response was, ‘nothing!’ She told me that my next book was right there, so I took what I already had and fleshed it out.”
And the rest, as they say, was history.

“I have always said that if, given my experiences, I can do all that I’ve been blessed to do, then there isn’t an excuse you can give me,” Polk said of her talents as a writer. “This (first) book has taken me to so many different places and has helped women all over the world.”
Which, to her credit, practically sums why the feedback surrounding her books have been favorable, for the most part.
Then again…
“Honestly, I have had women to stop talking to me after reading the book, have seen more side eyes and eye rolls than I care to count, have been accused of having cameras in people’s houses and more,” Polk explained. “I’ve even had book bloggers refuse to review the book after reading it and one even set fire to it.”
All things considered, Polk — who said she’s expected to witness her book count soar to 53 by year’s end — is especially grateful of the fact that God has strategically set her aside for His use.
In addition, she will be hand for The Running A Momathon Conference next month in Atlanta, during which she will be afforded the golden opportunity to promote her books.
She announced an upcoming event sometime in January 2020 that will highlight her milestone of having the 50 published books plateau.
“The message I’m trying to send is that life is not standing in the way of you having, being, and doing more in both life and business,” Polk said. “Small changes in things such as how you spend money and time can shift things in the right direction.”
She would know.
Look at all she’s managed to accomplish since that conversation with that woman back in 2016.
