For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18 ESV)
JOY UNSPEAKABLE
Because of whom she is and because of the divine calling on her life, God is steadfastly using Vernessa Blackwell in a mighty way, particularly as an accomplished author.
Never mind that Blackwell’s rise to becoming a beloved Christian-based writer has emerged amid a rash of tear-jerking, life-altering experiences.
A native Roxboro, North Carolina — a rural Person County establishment that is comprised of roughly 8,362 residents, according to the latest U. S. census — Blackwell assumed her God-mandated assignment by delving off into the world of authorship following the deaths of her youngest sister (each of her three sisters are deceased), as well as the deaths of her brother and both biological parents.
As if all of that weren’t enough to shatter the heart of this devout woman of faith, Blackwell’s “love of my life” was tragically killed as a result of a car accident.
“(Afterward), I started my journey into writing,” Blackwell told Making Headline News this week.
And, to her distinctly unique credit, she hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down as an awe-inspiring author.

Blackwell’s feature written work, Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional, debuted in August 2020, and is a massive collaboration of authors.
A book that is comprised of 191 pages in length, 90 co-authors have assembled to collectively birth Blackwell’s Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional, whereby they strategically engage in real talk about love, loss, grief and healing, among other pertinent topics.
Blackwell’s 11th anthology to date, this Washington D.C.-based has greatly inspired like-minded authors to diligently exercise their faith by sharing their life-altering stories and, most importantly, disclose how they have miraculously found joy during the journey in the process.
“Through these stories, each author demonstrates that while education, money, and professional achievement can certainly play a role, true joy goes deeper than material possessions and accomplishments,” said a spokesperson for Blackwell’s Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional in a detailed synopsis of this book at Amazon.com.
Moreover, each author’s journey is unique, Blackwell emphasized, adding that “no two people’s journey to joy will be exactly alike, but we can all learn from each other.”
In essence, Blackwell’s Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional figures to cause readers to laugh and cry or, “sometimes on the same page,” she says without hesitation. “After reading this book, you will walk away feeling inspired to find joy in your journey and power through any obstacles you may encounter along the way.”
Widely regarded as a No. 1 bestselling author who also assumes the roles as a grief strategist, Black is no stranger to being the visionary of anthologies.
Blackwell also is the mastermind behind Your Wings Were Ready But By Heart Was Not: A Tribute To Our Loved Ones, 162-page project that made its official release in July 2019.
“After we finished that project the authors wanted to write more,” Blackwell explained. “I wanted to help others to heal, and the vision God gave me to share it with other people to share their stories has blossomed into a masterpiece.”
As for Blackwell’s latest “masterpiece,” it appears to have already begun to make immeasurable strides days before its official release.
That’s because Blackwell’s Finding Joy In the Journey: Healthy Ways to Navigate Grief 90 Day Devotional was recently dubbed an “International Bestseller, a feat that, in all likelihood, will only heightened the buzz surround this remarkably compelling book.
As expected, the feedback for Blackwell’s newest project has been overwhelmingly favorable.
“This book has been amazing,” Blackwell said. “We have partnered and most of our authors are first-time authors. I have had an amazing time working with each of them. They are now international bestselling authors and starting projects of their own. We found joy in the journey during a pandemic in writing this devotional to inspire others to find joy in the midst of a storm.”
For Blackwell, it’s now 16 books — in the books.
As for how many more she plans to compose, who knows?
Besides, to her distinctly unique credit, she hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down as an awe-inspiring author.
