GOD-ORDERED STEPS
DALLAS — For many around the globe, 2020 was a downright challenging year that brought about a rash of turbulence and turmoil and hardships.
That wasn’t merely the case for LaTambria Johnson.
Truth be the told, this past year was one during which God showed and showed off, as far as Johnson is concerned.
Having compiled an impressive dental professional resume that spans more than 16 years, even after the North Dallas office where Johnson works had unceremoniously shutdown amid the global pandemic that is the coronavirus outbreak, there was God — His usual reliable Self — revealing Himself strong in the life of a woman whom, given her life’s sometimes stormy, rocky, seemingly insurmountable journey, was conditioned spiritually as if to imply that being strong oftentimes was her only conceivable option.
“This past year was a very unprecedented year for all of us,” Johnson recalls. “For me personally, it was a year of blessings in the midst everything going on around me. God showed up and showed favor in my business, my growth, my personal life, and all around.”

It was, by all accounts, due in large part to Johnson’s “all-around” contributions to her community, her family, and the Body of Christ that this accomplished Texas Corporate America professional-turned businesswoman-turned-author was named Making Headline News International Women’s Day Woman of the Year for 2021, joining longtime Charlotte, North Carolina businesswoman/author Elder Joan T. Randall for an honor that was announced by the publication’s Founder and Publisher.
Originally referred to as International Working Women’s Day, this day is celebrated annually on March 8 and customarily commemorates the movement for women’s rights. According to www.internationalwomensday.com, organizations and individuals around the world have collectively become committed to helping women and girls achieve their ambitions, challenge conscious and unconscious bias, as well as call for gender-balanced leadership and value women and men’s contributions equally.
Also, this day was designed in part to create inclusive flexible cultures. From awareness-raising to concrete action, organizations rallied their people to pledge support to help forge gender parity on International Women’s Day and beyond, according to a spokesperson for IWD.
For Johnson, 37, her rise to achieving her latest milestone comes amid humble beginnings.
After a year in which her dental office endured an unlikely furlough because of economic challenges that emerged in the wake of the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, Johnson, nevertheless, witnessed a significant increase in revenue through Tam’s Sweet Treats And More, her Dallas-Fort Worth-based venture that is widely known for providing consumers with a variety of sweets, most notably cakes, teacakes, chocolate covered sweets and, of course, its assortment of delectable and mouthwatering cupcakes.

A business that has garnered a national presence in recent months, Johnson’s Tam’s Sweet Treats And More was established after she had spent a better part of childhood watching her grandmother — who passed away in October 2001 — bake desserts in the confines of her kitchen, a trend that had ultimately fueled her desire to follow in her massive footsteps.
A graduate of Dallas Skyline High, Johnson serves as Vice-President and Managing Editor for Making Headline News, a Texas-based digital media outlet that has garnered a widespread national presence since its inception in December 2016.
“Personally, I was shocked because as (Making Headline News) Vice President, I usually put others above me and never thought of myself for such an honor,” Johnson said of being named MHN International Women’s Day Woman of the Year.

In One Dae At A Time: A 365 Daily Devotional Of Declarations, Affirmations and Encouragement For Women, Johnson recalls specifically how God had blessed her mightily amid the disheartening 2013 death of her son, Amari Aubre’ Carter, to whom she had given birth at just 24 weeks.
Interestingly enough, since her son’s untimely demise, Johnson has become an ambassador for bringing about awareness to infant and child loss, particularly in October, which recognizes Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness.

“Every chance I get, I try to support other women in business and encourage them to keep pushing forward and allow God to lead,” Johnson said of a year in which she was challenged mightily to exercise her faith in ways unimaginable. “With God leading, they will achieve now than they could have ever imagined.”
An empowerment extraordinaire in her own right, Johnson said she has become inspired to become more active in the community. For starters, she announced that plans are in the works to host what is known as the 2021 Women in Business Conference powered by Tam’s Sweet Treats And More.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the time and date of the event have yet to be determined.
Also, Johnson closed out the final quarter of 2020 by thrusting her name in the running for The Greatest Baker award, having advanced to the next-to-final round of the nationally-acclaimed competition.
