DALLAS — Make no mistake, Dr. Sena Whitaker would be the first admit that she simply loves to sleep with a Pastor.
Literally and figuratively, mind you.
Flash back to sometime a little more than a decade ago, when Whitaker was lying in bed next to her beloved companion, Earl Whitaker.
That is when, according to her, her Creator appropriately reminded her of whom she goes to sleep with and wakes up next to daily.
So all things considered, there’s no sense, really, in anyone publicly broadcasting to the masses that Dr. Whitaker is one who finds pleasure in sleeping with a man of cloth.
Heck, come to think of it, she’d be happy to tell you herself.
“(In 2006), as my husband and I were lying in bed talking, he told me he had to get up and get ready to drive to the church,” Dr. Whitaker told Making Headline News this week.
The church to which Earl Whitaker was referring is located in Lufkin, Texas, an institution that is approximately an hour-and-a-half-away from the couples’ Cypress, Texas home, or roughly 127 miles.
So much for withholding a secret, of sorts — one that, to the Whitakers’ credit, has become public news amongst countless individuals.
“All of a sudden I laughed and said, ‘O, I forgot. I’m sleeping with the pastor!’” Dr. Whitaker jokingly said in revealing a secret that, well, really isn’t a secret.
So there you have it.
Earl Whitaker, in fact, is a longtime Pastor and he’s pretty darn good and resourceful one, considering his wife has steadfastly obeyed the voice of God by composing a book that depicts this very subject and lifestyle.
Dr. Whitaker is the mastermind behind “I’m Sleeping With The Pastor!” an intriguing, thought-provoking published document that is widely known as a success kit for Pastors’ wives and those who love them.
“I lay in bed for another two hours writing down our thoughts as the Holy Spirit gave us this book,” said Dr. Whitaker, whose husband is also credited with having assembled several chapters in her book.
Officially released in May 20, 2013, “I’m Sleeping With The Pastor!” has emerged as a rather compelling seller, particularly amongst those in the Body of Christ who share a similar lifestyle as Dr. Whitaker.
According to a spokesperson at Amazon.com, where the book can be purchased, Dr. Whitaker shares an assortment of transparent experiences and writes candidly and enthusiastically about her experiences as a pastor’s wife, all while simultaneously encouraging and empowering pastors’ wives to flourish in their high calling, most notably through Biblical viewpoints and principles. In addition, Dr. Whitaker shares what is widely viewed as “penetrating perspectives” from her husband as well as experiences from other pastors’ wives, congregants and female pastors.

In a nutshell, “I’m Sleeping With The Pastor!” contains insightful counsel from Dr. Amanda Bowie, a clinical psychologist, who promotes healthy, psychological, and spiritual well-being for pastors’ wives and those who deem it essential to read this book, according to the spokesperson.
When asked what is the single, most underlying reason she chose to produce such a book, Dr. Whitaker said, “Even though being a pastor’s wife is a high calling, I’m often torn by the responsibilities and expectations that I and others have of me. I know I’m not alone, so I wanted to provide other pastor’s wife with a tool kit to thrive in their high calling — especially new pastor’s wives.”
Most importantly, Dr. Whitaker emphasized that part of her purpose for her book is to provide pastors some insight and understanding, particularly as it pertains to the issues their wives often face in their unique roles.
A native of Chester, Pennsylvania — but was raised in Philadelphia — Dr. Whitaker boasts more than two decades as a Pastor’s wife. In addition, she is a longtime licensed evangelist and is the founding president of Ministers Of The Heart, Incorporated, which is an Interdenominational Fellowship Of Female Ministers.
Also, she an ambassador for the Omar Jamal Aycox Foundation, Incorporated.
Earl and Sena Whitaker are both widowed and have been married for 14 years. The couple have five sons and a daughter.
As for the divine message she’s aiming to send to her reading audience, Dr. Whitaker stressed that a satisfying marriage is never over.
“As pastors’ wives, we do not live in a Pollyanna world shrouded in rose colored glasses, waiting for our prince charming to take us to a land where we will live happily ever,” Dr. Whitaker explained. “We are living in a real world where God has entrusted us with the marvelous ministry of being a pastor’s wife.”
A book that has become a success since its inception nearly four years ago, Dr. Whitaker’s next book entitled, “What Shall We Do With Mom?” is currently in the works and is scheduled to be released in May.
As for her book that is nearing four years of age, Dr. Whitaker said she’s thoroughly impressed with the overwhelmingly favorable feedback.
“My prayer is that pastors’ wives, pastors, and congregants of all denominations, creeds, color, and ages are helped immensely from reading this book and that God gets all the glory for the great things He has done with, through and for my husband and me,” Dr. Whitaker said.
And, if nothing else, don’t get it twisted.
Dr. Whitaker would be the first admit that she simply loves to sleep with a Pastor.
After all, God is the One Who endorsed it in the first place.
