SEAGOVILLE, Texas — Three years.
That’s about how long it took for Gina McGowan-Cade to assemble a book that, all things considered, has changed the overall landscape of the lives of countless individuals.
To her distinct credit, such an investment — and act of obedience to God — was worth every minute.
“I have been a writer since I was a child,” McGowan-Cade, a Dallas/Fort Worth-based author, told Making Headline News during a recent interview. “I began to write words of encouragement and put them away in a desk drawer.”
The rest, as they say, is history.
Armed with the uniquely beautiful gift and passion for writing, McGowan-Cade, a devout woman of faith, obeyed the voice of God by strategically erecting a figurative pulpit, of sorts, by way of a life-enhancing book that would greatly impact the lives of individuals from various walks of life.
A native of Dallas, McGowan-Cade is the author of “Iron Sharpens Iron: Encouragement for the Soul,” an inspiring, tear-jerking, spiritually confirming book in which McGowan-Cade’s featured message is rather direct and forthright — to remind the people of God that God is always with us.
“He has our best interest at His heart,” McGowan-Cade said. “We are not to give up and throw in the towel while we are going through, but hold on to what little we have, even if that is a little faith, a little money, a little understanding or whatever the situation may be. Our breakthrough does come.”
By and large, even when we find ourselves in a state of waiting as we are reminded according to Psalm 27:14, even when our faith is being placed on trial and the enemy attempts to cross-examine us with his customary devices as only he can, even when it seems our faith is bleak and we seem on shaky ground, McGowan-Cade steadfastly issued another pivotal reminder to her reading audience.
“Wait with faith and watch for the breakthrough,” she said with authority.
All of which practically sums up why “Iron Sharpens Iron: Encouragement for the Soul” seems well on its way to becoming a monumental hub for spiritual encouragement in the Body of Christ in the foreseeable future.

Said June Yvonne Gates, one buyer, in a written review: My God!!! My God!!! When I Say Your Book Is Soul Touching And Absolutely Uplifting Gina You Definitely Hit It On Point From Family, Waiting On That God Sent Mate To Trusting God In Every Situation And Sharing The Love Of God With Others Your Book Has Really BLESSED My Soul Thank You! For Letting God Use You.
Then there was this rather extensive, in-depth review by another buyer: Mrs. Cade, thank you for being obedient and writing “Iron Sharpens Iron.” I want you to understand where I’m coming from. I’ve been running on, pressing and praying for a while now and I recently got tired and fell, but thankfully God picked me back up before I got comfortable. I’ve been working three jobs to get by and haven’t been to church in almost two months I think. On my way in the door tonight I heard a soft voice say “Oliver, breathe, just breathe, even fire has to breathe in order to spread” suddenly a hunger for the word began but I could not (can’t) find my bible! So I grabbed your book and just opened it and saw a word in bold letters that read “Faith” (page 75) and I started reading. I received remembrance, power, and direction through this reading. After reading about faith, I continued on and read “Battling from the bottom” (surely God knows what Oliver needs to hear lol) and I received some confirmation and healing! I consider myself strong yet the past three or four days has felt like fluctuations. Mrs. Cade this book you wrote makes a positive difference to the heart, mind, soul, and spirit. Whether in darkness or bright this book brings light and life, and I could go into deep detail but I must get some rest. I hope I didn’t disturb you or Byron, just thought you should urgently know before I forget to tell you. Thanks!
And there you have it, an array of positive, spiritually gut-checking feedback for a book that, to McGowan-Cade’s distinct credit, was well worth every minute of the investment with God, her Helper, leading the way.
“The words would just flow from me and (onto) paper was where they would land,” said McGowan-Cade, explaining how her Creator infused her with the Light of the Holy Spirit to publish her book. “One day, the Holy Spirit spoke (and said): ‘These words are not to be put away in a drawer.’ I begin to share them with others online. One day, I was reviewing them and it all came together, and the birth of the book begins to take off.”
The rest, as they say, is history.

Very inspiring and encouraging for those who need to put pen to paper!
