Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
One attribute undoubtedly rings true as it pertains to Shawna Johnson.
She is a fixture when it comes to esteeming others highly than herself.
“People want to be seen and heard,” Johnson, an Atlanta-area businesswoman, told Making Headline News this week. “When it’s all said and done, what will your legacy be and how many people will you impact?”
To her distinctly unique credit, Johnson’s entrepreneurship reputation is such that she customarily answers this notable question virtually daily.
A credible and resourceful businesswoman, Johnson is an accomplished Business Coach, Corporate Trainer, and Motivational Speaker, a progressively thriving venture that has allowed her to make her presence felt across the country, even in establishments around the globe.
How else to explain why this longtime Corporate America professional’s remarkable career has allowed her to put her immense entrepreneurship talents on display in more than 300 seminars throughout the United States and abroad?
Most importantly and for what it’s worth, Johnson doesn’t shy away from the notion that she undoubtedly is walking in the divine purpose for which God has created her.
A native of Oakland, California and a proud alumna of the historic Howard University, amongst Johnson’s key objective through her nationally-acclaimed business venture is teaching entrepreneurs, coaches, and consultants how to strategically monetize their gifts and talents so they can have what she describes as a leveraged and lucrative business.

Having acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from California State University, Johnson also holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from Howard, where graduated Suma Cum Laude. Also, Johnson is founder of a non-profit organization called Positive Young Teens (www.positiveyoungteens.org), whereby she assist disadvantaged youths in middle and high school, stressing, among other things, the importance of civic responsibility, leadership entrepreneurship, and academic excellence.
As far her biggest inspiration for electing to delve off into the competitive world of entrepreneurship, Johnson recalls like yesterday when one of her high school counselors suggested that she wasn’t a suitable fit to pursue higher education.
Interesting enough, that proved to be just the motivation she needed to help steer her toward her destiny.
Look at her today, a former Rutgers University Corporate Trainer who is the mastermind behind having established three successful businesses, all while aiding thousands of professionals launch lucrative careers.
“When I was in high school my counselor told me I wasn’t college material,” Johnson recalled. “She suggested I get a job instead. That one incident has been a driving force in my life…not to prove her wrong, but to prove to myself that I could achieve anything I put my mind to.”
Fortunately for Johnson, she has been nothing short of impressive during an entrepreneurship tenure that spans more than 12 years — and counting.
And given the immense strides she’s made over the years, it’s safe to assume that her best and brightest days in her element are well ahead of her.
How clever for a Corporate America sensation whose venture also has afforded her the golden opportunities to speak in Ghana in February of this year, during which she spoke to the women of Ghana about empowerment and restoration .
As if that isn’t enough to turn head globally, Johnson is scheduled to make appearances in South Korea in November. Also, she will be thrust upon the main stage for the Black CEO Womanpreneur Conference in January 2018.
“My biggest influence is my mother,” Johnson said. “She raised eight children by herself. She taught me the importance of hard work, commitment and perseverance.”
All of which essentially sums up why Johnson has steadfastly defied life’s biggest of obstacles while ensuring that her dreams become a reality.
“My personal mission is to help people understand their worth…to believe in themselves and know they have something of value to share with the world,” Johnson, a lifetime member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., said.
What it all boils down to, Johnson emphasized, is routinely esteeming others and impacting lives — one life at a time.
“If one person can say I made them feel worthy, valued, cared for,” said Johnson, “I’ve done my job.”
Which, to her credit, is one of the things that undoubtedly ring true as it pertains to Shawna Johnson.
